FDM Group offers its expertise to Northwest graduates
The UK’s largest IT graduate employer, FDM Group, will be hosting its first ‘Flavours of IT’ taster session to give graduates the opportunity to discover what a career in IT might have in store for them. The inaugural event will be hosted by the Manchester division of the international IT services provider on 14th June at 6pm-8pm at its Portland Street office.
The event aims to give graduates an insight into the diverse roles available within the IT industry and will include a variety of presentations on different technical career paths and what each role could involve. The talks, delivered by FDM’s technical trainers, will focus on Software Development, Test Analysis and Project Management, each of which are streams of FDM’s award-winning graduate programme.
FDM’s CEO, Rod Flavell said, “It is with great joy that we are offering undergraduates and graduates the opportunity to learn about the range of career paths available in the IT industry. We think it is imperative for students to be given the chance to speak with industry professionals in an informal setting to find out what it is really like to work in one of the world’s fastest moving industries.”
FDM’s Graduate Programme commences with 12-16 weeks of intensive skills training to transform an individual into an FDM IT Consultant, before they are placed to represent FDM on client sites for a minimum of two years. The salary of FDM’s IT Consultants across the UK is the same whether they are working in London or the Northwest, which is a rare and real advantage to those based in the Northwest.
Recent research by TotalJobs.com has found that the average number of applicants for every job has increased from 15 to 20 throughout the UK, with the North region being the hardest hit with an average of 23 applications per job vacancy.
Flavell commented, “We are hoping that this session will help graduates to contemplate a career in an industry they may not have necessarily considered before. There is a great demand for high-calibre IT Consultants in the Northwest and we hope this taster session will show all the attendees the exciting side to what was once known as a ‘geeky’ profession.”
FDM has launched the careers of over 3,000 graduates worldwide and has pledged to employ a further 1,000 graduates this year alone. FDM’s rapid exponential growth over the past few years has seen the IT firm grow its international operations and now houses nine offices across the UK, Europe, the USA and Asia Pacific.
The evening will end with a networking session and FDM’s Recruitment Team will be on hand to discuss career opportunities and advice on how to succeed in the industry. The event is free to attend, but booking is essential. Those interested can secure their place by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with their full details.
