Software testing is in huge demand and software testers represent a critical part of the development life cycle. FDM’s software tester training course will give you a recognised qualification in this sought-after specialism.

You could be ISTQB certified in weeks

Your test analyst training begins with a thorough grounding in the theory of software testing. Topics covered include: the fundamentals of testing, testing and the systems development life-cycle, test design techniques, black and white box testing, test management and finally, the use of test tools. At the end of this section of the course, you will sit for your International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Certificate in Software Testing.

A grounding in practical skills

The next stage of the course involves a practical project in testing. You are given an application, which has been developed but is untested. Your task is to write a detailed set of test procedures, which will determine the overall quality of the application. Emphasis is placed on good test design, business process coverage and prioritisation of the tests based on risk analysis.

An introduction to HP and Agile Testing techniques

In conjunction with the project, you receive tuition in HP’s Quality Centre, the market’s leading test management tool. You then use this tool to record your test cases and document your findings.

After completing your project, you are given a course in HP’s Quick Test Pro – the regression testing tool. Topics covered include: QTP’s place in regression testing, the creation of standard tests, verifying with standard checkpoints, creating tests on a web application, using database checkpoints and handling recovery scenarios.

The final part of your development as a software  tester involves an introduction to Agile testing, one of the most important techniques in use today, together with a comparison of the iterative systems development model with the waterfall model.

At the end of your training you will be ready to take up a post as an FDM Mountie in a live client project, supported by the Academy as and when you feel you need it.
