Sun Microsystems' Java has become the standard programming language for Internet-based applications and can run on any hardware platform, including mobile phones, PCs and handheld PDAs. Java today resides on over 3 billion devices worldwide. FDM has been training Java Developers since 2000 and sees Java as one of the most in-demand skills within the IT job market.

Java training for a real work environment

Our Java programmer module is designed to be more than a course that teaches the basics of the Java language. At the end of your study, your Sun Java certification will enable you to write code that is modular, robust, scalable and maintainable to a professional standard – i.e. code that can be easily modified to meet changing client requirements and that is easy to support once in production.

Projects that develop your Java skills

Once you have grasped the language basics, you will engage in a series of mini projects to introduce and then reinforce good design principles. The fundamentals of polymorphism, abstraction, inheritance and encapsulation are explained and their implementation within the Java framework is fully investigated. The work culminates in a final project that brings together all the elements taught throughout the SCJP course.

The final part of the training covers server side web development; once mastered you will convert a desktop application into a web-based application, adding the facility to purchase tickets on-line. This ensures that subjects such as web security and session handling are fully covered.

Throughout the course, you will be constantly challenged to think of better ways to write your code, to plan for the future and to consider the likelihood of change throughout the lifecycle of the Java applications you write.

At the end of this course you will:

  • Be on your way to becoming a Sun certified Java developer with practical ‘real-world’ project experience
  • Have developed fully-fledged Java EE applications
  • Be working towards Oracle Certification
  • Be ready for a work assignment with one of our many clients
