Project Analyst Profile

Oliver’s Story in Project Analysis

profile-oliver-tuheyOliver Tuhey was one of the first candidates to complete our PMO (Project Management Office) stream. He graduated from University College London in Serbian, Croatian and European Studies, but wanted to work in project management. Currently working as an FDM Project Analyst at HSBC, this is his story:

“Before joining FDM I was working as a resourcer for a small independent recruitment agency. I’d been occasionally involved in some minor projects at work and found I really enjoyed this aspect of my job; organising resources and helping the business to improve. I wanted a role which focussed more on project management.

I liked that FDM were prepared to give people who don’t necessarily come from an IT background the opportunity to break into the sector, and also to get experience working with some of the biggest companies out there. During the Academy skills development I found the trainers really knew their subject matter, and were able to pass on some useful techniques that I’m now using at work. I also found the environment at FDM very friendly, the sales & support staff really made me feel welcome and it’s great getting to know the other trainees.

I am now working through FDM at HSBC providing organisational and administrative support for a team that develops and supports plug-in data applications.

There was so much to take in in my first week that it did feel a little daunting to start off with. However it didn’t take long to get familiarised with the new role and I’m already taking responsibility for producing some crucial reports, so it’s a great opportunity to progress my career.

As HSBC is a massive organisation there are always new projects being run, which means the job can be extremely varied from one day to the next. However, FDM’s support and sales staff gave me a lot of information about the company and the role beforehand so I felt well prepared. A typical day might involve scheduling the various members of the team to make sure that they are available for meetings, collating data for reporting purposes and designing slides for presentations.

If you want to work for some of the biggest organisations out there, I would definitely recommend the FDM Academy programme!”
